The Best Motto

Gd, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannon change
Courage to change the things I can
And the wisdom to know the difference.

All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.

You woke up this morning - Congratulations! You got another chance!

MORNING UPDATE - March 27, 2014

Good Morning, peeps! Happy Thursday! According to my phone, it's just above freezing outside - bring out the sunblock!
Our building finally decided to repair the boiler, hence they advised us of the impending absence of the hot water - but failed to mention the almost possible absence of all water. Even the crazy upstairs interrupted her usual routine. Feline companions were extremely preoccupied with the strange noises coming from below and from outside, and during the breaks in those noises resumed hunting for sparrows.
Can't find one of my Bond CD.
Yesterday impressed a few costumers with my ability to instantly know where a particular book is.
Currently trending at #2 is Bethenny Frankel - because her ex wants her to pay his legal fees. A lot of self-respect this dude has, that's for sure.
Duck Dynasty is trending at #4 - because its "star stands by his believes". Good for him!
Provo, UT, was just declared America's happiest city - I guess there is something about that Book of Mormon, after all.
Sandra Bullock is supposedly planning a TV show based on her Miss Congeniality movies - lady, please! The first movie was suck-y enough!
"Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez: Wedding Planning?" - wow! Jelena is that much alive?!!
"Kate Upton's Vogue Photo: Better Than Kim Kardashian's Cover?" - people, people!! Once again, just take a buck and go to the Met, because you have no blinking idea of what true art and beauty are.
And, finally, Kate is "very excited" about first Mother's day - I bet she is!

MORNING UPDATE - February 27, 2014

Good Morning, peeps! Happy Thursday! Well, it was sunny, then snowing, then sunny again - and, of course, another "severe weather advice", this time about very cold temperatures and extra strong winds.
George likes to sit on my desk, especially on the spot usually reserved for my laptop. Sniff found himself a new relaxing position - balancing between the cat house and the radiator.
The crazy upstairs is - well, you know.
Yesterday horrified a costumer by offering him Tom Sawyer as a great, "gender-neutral" book to teach to a class of ten-year olds.
The Di Blasio voters continue to experience buyer's remorse - as he is planning to evict 3 charter schools from their space in the public schools. One of those schools happens to be in Harlem - so much for the bleeding heart for the poor.
Sandra Bullock is trending at #8 - because it looks like she would make 70 mil for Gravity. Well, as long as she does not join the "rich do not pay enough taxes" crowd, let her enjoy them (the money, that is).
According to latest reports, juicing can help you ward off colds and flu - wow! How original!
Robin Thicke's wife is "smiling after the split" - well, why not?
"Bieber's booking video released by prosecutors" - whoever wants to watch it has way too much time on his hands.
And, finally, Will and Kate are still looking for a new nanny.

MORNING UPDATE - NOVEMBER 27

Good Morning, peeps! Happy Wednesday! Happy Eruv Chanuka! The weather is rainy, yucky, and blah-y - but at least it's not cold.
It looks like Sniff also has food preferences; if George is usually concerned with the freshness of the offerings, Sniff is very particular about how far into the bowl he has to reach. If the food is below certain level, he upends the bowl on the floor, and then proceeds to eat.
Yesterday had a very interesting discussion with two geniuses about the "sexism" of toys and boys's preferences for playing with guns.
Currently trending at #1 is Mario Batali - because he "invested" in 200 pairs of orange Crocs. Imelda Marcos, you two would have had some very interesting discussions.
Congratulations to Jennifer Love Hewitt on the birth of a daughter, who was given an almost unimaginative name of Autumn James. Poor kid is going to be teases mercilessly for having such a mundane name.
A whole discussion about possibility of Kelly Osborne's tweet being "disrespectful" - because she was not happy about Obama's visit blocking the traffic, and tweeted about it with the word president in quotes - off with her head! How dare she!
Once again, a bizarre list of what shoplifters love to steal: cosmetics, pregnancy tests, baby formula, men's razors, jewelry, underwear, condoms, and Iphone accessories. Interesting mix, to say the least.
"Why Sandra Bullock is happy being single" - what kind of question is that? Not having to deal daily with stupidity and unresolved mommy issues is simply nirvana!
A study finds that people whose first child is a daughter are much more likely to become Republicans - mom and dad, what's why you hate Dems! Because of me! Also, having sisters makes "males more politically conservative" - wow!
Justin Bieber released a new "sexy" video where he "makes out with a girl" - yuck, yucky, triple yuck!!

MORNING UPDATE - NOVEMBER 26

Good Morning, peeps! Happy Tuesday! The weather is typical for the end of November, and water molecules are descending in some form or another.
Cats are still pretty lethargic due to cold - of course, it does not prevent George from complaining just a tad and Sniff from getting into mischief.
The crazy upstairs was extra diligent today.
Observed a city employee scraping papers from the lapmpost (they were there from at least the times of Bloomberg's first term), and then spraying Windex on the street light!
Currently trending at #1 is Sandra Bullock - because EW made her an Entertainer of the Year. Deep sigh of relief as it's not some asshole like Clooney, DiCaprio, or Damon. Also waiting on the report of Demon chomping on his moccasins.
"Kid-friendly video games" - they are called "books", ladies and gents!
"Revealing dress style dominates red carpet" - why is this even news? When they will dress like a bunch of Mormons, that would, indeed, be a front page topic.
"Getting HBO without cable" - another thing to cross off your bucket list.
"Billy Ray gives Miley a sporty new ride" - how about some caring parenting for a change?
Justin Bieber released another short film for his fragrance - move over, Charlie Chaplin!

MORNING UPDATE - SEPTEMBER 9

Good Morning, peeps! Happy Monday! Shavua Tov! Shana Tova! I hope all of you had great Holiday and wish all of you a great, happy, healthy, sweet, prosperous, and blessed New Year! The weather is almost rocking for this time of the year - and I don't remember the last time I was able to deal without A/C on Rosh Hashana.
For the inquiring minds - there are sixty five Barbies in my collection.
Both George and Sniffles are enjoying the fresh air that comes from the open kitchen window; they also enjoy observing the local fauna. However, George gets scared when he sees someone on the outside (Baby Bro claims that he sees ghosts); Sniff, however, recognizes us through the window and tries to snuggle through the mesh.
The crazy upstairs is up to her usual stuff.
Currently trending at #2 is Taylor Swift, because she is producing a new single with J Lo - oh, golly! Really don't want to see this one.
Reese Witherspoon supposedly "stunned" at the premiere of her new movie - OK, the dress was cute and she usually looks adorable, but I would not call it "stunning".
Some kind of experts claim that Whole Foods, Walmart, Costco, and Target make mayo that's as good as Hellman's, or that we would be "hard pressed to taste the difference" - scurrilous lies! Hellman's can't be beat!
"What to expect from Apple's iPhone event" - a lot of crazy Apple junkies, what else?
Rodman is making his third trip to North Korea - can he stay there already?
Sandra Bullock claims that she feels she does not deserve her Oscar for the Blind Side and she will be trying to prove herself for the rest of her life - chill, Sandra! Just look at James Cameron - he definitely did not deserve his, yet it did not prevent him from preening like a peacock and yelling that he is the king of the world.
"Justin Bieber debuts new 'mustache'" - spare me!
Prince Andrew accepted an apology from police after he was mistaken for an intruder in the Buckingham Palace - should have just shouted allah akbar, and the police would have stood down right away.
And, finally, according to Vanity Fair, Kate, backed by Will, defied the royal orders regarding Georgie, and made her own decisions - good for her! Considering how well her father in law turned out to be, I totally don't blame her.

MORNING UPDATE - JULY 23

Good Morning, peeps! Happy Tuesday! The weather is NY July, meaning meh, but not as bad as it could be. George demonstrated his sixth sense again last night when I had to crawl over my bed in order to put on my a/c - next thing I know, the ginger ball is right next to me! Had to disappoint him and inform him that it was not bedtime yet. Now they are sleeping in my room (for a change) - Sniff in the cat house, and George on the window sill next to my desk; it's actually always a surprise to sit by my desk and find him there.
The crazy upstairs is extra diligent today.
The new chapter in the saga of living in barbarian-infested neighbourhood: first my toilet paper was stolen, then a package from Gymboree was stolen from our front door area, and now Baby Bro's Amazon package! I sort of understand the first two, but post-modern poetry?!! I guess the lure of the Amazon box was too much for someone - plus, it helps that our apartment is right next to the elevator.
Guess what's trending at #1 right now? Nope, you are wrong - it's Lisa Kudrow, due to her announcement of not being interested in Friends reunion. A bit cold, Lisa, considering that that show sort of made you.
Now guess what's trending at #2? Wrong again - it's Sandra Bullock, who was talking about filming Gravity and claiming that it was "incredibly scary"; have no idea what Gravity is all about, so can offer no educated comment on this one.
Now guess what's trending at #5? Well, sort of - it's Buckingham palace, which is, of course, besieged by the crowds of crazily happy people - or is it just happily crazy? Or just happy? Or just plain crazy?
So, yes, Mazal Tov to Kate on the birth of a baby boy! - Well, she was the one doing all the work!
The nutty Brits got to enjoy most of their rituals that surround the birth of the heir to the throne - and, surprise, surprise - muslims were quite for a change! (I wonder why)
As I mentioned before, according to some enterprising souls, the baby is a Jew - which, if indeed is true, would be our best revenge on a lot of things and nasty individuals, beginning with Edward I (or maybe even earlier).
The best summary of the events was this morning, when Baby Bro appeared in the kitchen with a totally bewildered expression on his face and asked to clarify what the deal was with that baby - my answer that people basically have no lives seemed to satisfy his curiosity.

MORNING UPDATE - JUNE 28

Good Morning, peeps! Happy Friday! Happy Erev Shabat! The weather is - well, whatever, it's summer, so I have to brace myself for the next 3 months. Thank The Good Lord for a/c!
The crazy upstairs is doing her crazy thing, which now includes schlepping furniture back and forth.
George woke me up this morning demanding to be petted, and is now sleeping on my bed. Sniff is in the cat house - he recently woke up from his nap, stretched, sent a few disdainful looks in my direction, and went back to sleep.
In honor of the Harry Potter's 15th Anniversary, Scholastic unveiled a new cover for the Prisoner of Azkaban - the series are fantastic and unique without any idiotic illustrations, especially The Prisoner, Scholastic!
Beyonce posted a bunch of pictures of her daughter, and the public is fascinated by baby's designer shoes - aw, how sweet and spittoon worthy!
Alyssa Milano is currently trending at #1 because she "Looks Amazing At Age 40 On The Cover Of Maxim" - great accomplished!
Sylvester Stallone is currently trending at #3 because he is teaming up with Arnold once again - and not to try and deprive us of our 2nd Amendment rights, mind you, but actually to do their primary job and collaborate on the new movie.
"Sandra Bullock flaunts surprising skill" - she is fluent in German. Usually, I would wonder if that was a slow news day so this one got a special headline, but I know that we have not been lacking for news in at least half a year, so, what gives?
Out of top ten US cities for car thefts, seven are located in sunny California - so, it's a land of fruits, nuts, and car thieves. My long-ago decision not to move there looks more and more appealing.

MORNING UPDATE - JUNE 14

Good Morning, peeps! Happy Friday! Happy Erev Shabat! Happy Flag Day and Happy Birthday to US Armed Forces!
People complain about the weather, but to me - no triple H, no torrential rain, no need for a/c - me very happy! The crazy upstairs is doing her usual deeds. My roommate decided to enjoy a decadent lifestyle and is now blasting music in the shower.
Sniff was not happy about the closed bathroom door - or the music, for that matter; but then Sniff rarely looks happy. Baby Bro had an idea to create inspirational posters with that animal with a caption "Mr. Sniffles does not approve!" George, on the other hand, came in to snuggle last night and decided to groom me again in the cat style - the fact that I am not a cat did not penetrate his feline brain.
Alton Browne was talking about soft pretzels - and I immediately pictured him with a nice home-made pretzel and a big shot gun. Ina is making French onion soup and chocolate mousse with whipped cream - yum!
Sandra Bullock is trending at #2 right now because she showed up at the premier of her new movie in a backless dress that showed off her bra - as if she is the only one who flashes her unmentionables!
More from the news of fashion: "J Lo rocks curve-hugging dress" - no danger of her ever rocking her brains.
And yet more from the news of fashion: Miley Cyrus stepped out in "hybrid" denim and sweatpants - at least this is not permanent, like a tat.
"Who Is Kate Upton Kissing?" - as long as it's not me, I really don't care.
Mariah Carey is a huge fan of "The Game of Thrones" - my friends who are the fans (you know who you are) - welcome a new member to your club!
Jennifer Aniston recently remodeled her house and the back yard, but kept the chicken coop that was there when she purchased the house - I wonder if she feeds those chickens herself. Now that would be a photo op!
"Selena Gomez Is Done with Justin Bieber After Miley Cyrus Flirt Fest" - well, duh! I guess Jelena is well and truly dead.
Coffee this morning in my Coffee Bean/Tea Leaf mug.
